Tomorrow is World Photography Day, so today’s post will be dedicated to photography, or more precisely: to photographers!

Without the contribution of people, photographers, there would be no photography.

And who is a photographer?

Wikipedia tells us that the word:
“Photography (the Greek φῶς (phos), meaning “light”, and γραφή (graphê), meaning “drawing, writing”, together meaning “drawing with light”)”
so a photographer is a person who drives in light, using a camera.

You see, everything comes from Greek! 🙂

I have been photographing Rhodes, and not only, since 1998, and from observations over all these years, I can tell you what character traits a photographer should have.
A photographer should definitely be curious about the World and if something interests them, they should dig deeper in search of answers to questions.

From my own experience I know that sensitivity is definitely a very helpful feature, because we, more sensitive people, feel and see more and are moved not only by the beauty of the world around us, architecture, people and landscapes, but we also love art, music, and sometimes even smell can inspire us.

However, in personal life this sensitivity is not so helpful, quite the opposite, I know something about it! 😉

A photographer must always have their eyes wide open so as not to miss anything, but it’s a difficult thing. I have heard from you many times that I am again at the right moment and place to take a photo. And I guess that’s what it’s all about. Being observant is a very important feature.

You should also be patient, to wait for the right moment to take a photo. The photo attached to this post cost me some waiting, but it was worth it!
For teaching me patience while taking photos at this moment I would like to thank my wonderful friend from Rhodes and a fantastic photographer, Stavros Kesedakis.

And the most important thing is to keep developing! To chase away your “lazy ass”, he he he ;-), listen to good advice from fellow photographers and devote every free moment to acquiring greater skills, which is what I wish myself most on the occasion of tomorrow’s Day!

And if photographers read this post, I wish you wonderful shots and constant creative inspiration! Have a great celebration!
